MEC NEWS

Attention: MEC Members, prospective members and neighbors of Ukiah

Have you noticed our wonderful "Mendocino Environmental Center" sign? It's brand new and well worth waiting for. The artist's name is Thaddeus and he is from the Bay Area. We thank him and appreciate his artistry.

Don't pass us by - Enjoy the beauty of our sign, notice our informative imaginative display windows and our Honor Roll Display for M.T.A.

Come in and tell us your environmental concerns. We have a wide range of free material and brochures that will stimulate new environmental interests.

FIRST RECIPIENT OF THE MEC HONOR ROLL

MEC has a new, upbeat project. We are going to accentuate the positive. It occurred to us that local groups and businesses, who are doing something right - something to improve our environment, are not getting enough recognition. So we asked questions and got some good answers.

We want everyone to know that our display window will feature local organizations, businesses and groups that are making a contribution towards a cleaner and healthier environment in the county. Hopefully, we will have a new group to honor every month.

The first to come to our attention is our own transportation organization, MTA.

Come on over to 106 W. Standley St. See our display and become informed as to how M.T.A. is helping. Stop in and say "hello." You may have information about another group to whom we can show our appreciation and inform the public.

Let's talk about your evironmental interests and concerns. Gert Warner

HELP NEEDED

Legislative Researcher:

Someone to follow environmentally related issues in the State Legislature using Senator Byron Shers' monthly update and help determine the MEC action response.

Office Assistant:

We need someone to help with inventory and light bookkeeping.

HELP SUPPORT THE MEC IN TWO WAYS

1. Merchandise Sales at the MEC. We sell many types of recycled paper; rubber stamps; bumper stickers; posters; books; T-shirts[from $10 and up], and many more items, including gift memberships, which include the MEC newsletter. We gladly accept all donations.

2. The recycling center credit accounts. Give us the money you would make returning your recyclables to B and J, and Ukiah Recycling by having them give us the credit. It helps us keep going.
