Wobbly Bureau of Investigation Benefit

Four groups that have been targeted by F.B.I. COINTELPRO-style operations present an evening of information and music to expose the F.B.I. Efforts by the federal government to disrupt and destroy progressive political organizations are well-documented in books such as Ward Churchill and Jim VanderWall's Agents of Repression. Now, representatives of four targeted organizations will tell the real story about the F.B.I.'s sordid Counter Intelligence Program (COINTERLPRO), stripping the veil of secrecy from these campaigns of repression and assassination.

This event represents an unprecedented alliance between such groups, marking a watershed moment in the progressive movement. Speaking on the topic are: Judi Bari of the Industrial Workers of the World, survivor of a 1990 carbomb assassination attempt in Oakland, CA; Maria Sanchez and Alejandro Molina of the National Committee to Free Puerto Rican Prisoners and War and Political Prisoners, survivors of a 1985 island-wide SWAT assault by 300 FBI Agents; Bobby Castillo of the International Indian Treaty Council, who will speak about the 3-year campaign by the FBI against the American Indian Movement (AIM) on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota; and Muhjah Shakir of the International Committee to Free Geronimo Ji Jaga (Pratt), who was framed and jailed with FBI help in the early 70's for his activism with the Black Panther Party.

Music will be provided by Darryl Cherney of IWW/EF! and Ronald Rosario of the Puerto Rican Prisoners group. The event is sponsored by the Wobbly Bureau of Investigation (a group currently engaged in a lawsuit against the FBI, Oakland Police and others for their role in falsely accusing Bari and Cherney of the 1990 carbombing, as well as the destruction of crucial evidence in the case) and Women Against Rape. Proceeds will be split between the four groups.
