The "Wise-Use Movement" (WUM) has been described as a threat to the environmental movement and in some ways that's true. For rural grass-roots environmentalists, however, WUM can be a positive experience. It all depends on how you handle it. That's the message of a workshop which Klamath Forest Alliance coordinator Felice Pace offers for grass-roots organizations and activists. The Alliance (KFA) has been dealing with WUM in Siskiyou County in rural Northern California for almost two years. The workshop is designed to help local activists formulate and implement a strategy to isolate and frustrate local WUM initiatives and in the process gather increased support for environmental programs and positions. For more information or to arrange a workshop in your community contact Felice Pace at the KFA office: P.O. Box 820, Etna, CA 96027, 916-467-5405.
