BJ Replies To CDF

(The following is the text of the response sent to CDF) Feb. 17, 1993

Deputy Director, CDF, Ken Delfino
Resources Building,1416 9th St.
Sacramento, Ca. 95814

Dear Mr. Delfino,

I am writing you in response to Mr. Davidson's letter of Feb. 2, 1993 as regards my "Artworks, Green Blob," (consensus/tree). The indelible green marker used by me which has apparently rendered the "board" in question useless to the "Department" was provided by "staff" at my request. I was under the impression that said "marker" was of the appropriate type since I was clear with "staff" that it was my intent to use it on the now defunct "board." Be that as it may, I am of course willing to accept responsibility for having applied the "blob/tree" on the "board." However I feel that in the spirit of fair play and compromise that "staff" needs to share in the responsibility for having provided me with the weapon of destruction. With that in mind I am enclosing a check for $ 60.00, (1/2 the amount of the stated value of the "board") for my portion of the "event." If we can find a buyer for this "Artwork," (we're thinking to bill it as political/contemporary, [all inclusive of the administrative record] {letters etc.} of course) work, we would be prepared to share with the "Department" any and all profits (after expenses) with the "staff" and the Department, as collaborators in this effort; even though such efforts of the before mentioned collaborators were not "intentional." We are willing to make a good faith effort to assist the "Department" in its' trials and tribulations of number crunching and general budget malaise.

We are encouraged by the statements in Mr. Davidson's letter that CDF is able to recognize a "Tree."If this arrangement is not satisfactory to CDF (sharing the burden) please do not hesitate to contact me.
