Eel River Clean-Up 1996

by Beb Ware

The Clean-up is coming Hurrah Hurrah!! Yes, that's right!! The 5th annual 4-H, PG&E Eel River Clean-up is going to happen again this year!! This is a fun and productive activity that is available to all 4-H'ers and other volunteers from the community. You may come at anytime during the day between 9 AM and 3 PM to help clean up the trash left behind during the summer recreational period. We will be picking trash up along the shore, on the gravel bars, and along the roadways. All volunteers will receive a free lunch provided by PG&E. PG&E owns the land along this stretch of the Eel River and contributes $500 every year to keep the Mendocino County 4-H operating. The county of Mendocino donates the dump fees. You may call Beb Ware at 743-1525 for more information.

Follow the signs from Hoppers Corner in Potter Valley 5 miles north to the bridge over the Eel River. The staging area is under the bridge. Volunteers will be on hand to assign you an area and help you get started. Please come.......and do bring your swimming suit, inner tubes, floats, sunscreen, canteens, or whatever else you need to have a fun and productive experience on the beautiful Eel River.

Mark your calendar for Sat. October, 12, and remember.....If you have the time, we have the trash!!!!
