It is time to return the
Headwaters of the Eel River to their
Wild and Scenic body of water.
Coho Salmon have been placed on the
Endangered Species list.
Steelhead will most likely be
listed in August.
These are indicator species telling us
there is a major break
in the food chain happening.
We have to act in response to this.
Major help to the endangered
Eel River salmonids
involves giving them the water they need
for spawning, to run to and from the ocean,
by stopping the diversion of the
Eel River headwaters
at the Potter Valley Power Project.
By stopping the sale of this project
to developers to the south,
we can restore the water necessary for survival
of the Coho Salmon and Steelhead Trout
of this once-legendary Eel River.
Deregulation is occurring in the power industry.
PGE has to sell 50% of its
hydroelectric plants.
The unprofitable Potter Valley Power Project
is one of these plants.
The law demands
justification for what is kept.
Can the unsustainable water use in
Sonoma and Marin
be more important than the restoration
of the Eel River salmonids?
Stop corporate power from misusing the
Public Trust for personal gain.
Stop the continued charade of the
Potter Valley Project.
This is a water delivery system in the
guise of a power plant.
You can absolutely make a difference.
