Wanted: People to work on the Internet for the MEC

Are you interested in the potential of the Internet for social change? Would you like to learn this technology and help make a difference at the same time? The MEC is looking for help in really making use of the Internet in our work. Right now, it is enough for Kirsten and Lynda, the new managers, to keep up with phone calls, the people who walk in the door, and the activities going on right in the MEC itself.

The environmental movement is alive and well on the Internet. The Internet allows for the dissemination of background information, up-to-the-minute action alerts, and ongoing discussion on current issues. For example, a lot of dialog among the key people is going on around the Headwaters Forest issue on the net.

The MEC is also a part of Econet, an online forum which for many years has provided a specific arena for environmentalists to share information and discussion on issues.

And... the MEC has a web site which archives and makes available back issues of the MEC newsletter, provides information about environmental groups in the county, and provides extensive links to environmental information. Are you interested in learning about web page design and helping to keep the MEC web site current and valuable to folks in the county?

We need the help. You might be just the person for the job.
