To the Editor:

I recently visited a center called "The MEC" in Ukiah, California. I was there to visit friends, and to see how it was they spent their time.

As I walked through the leaflet covered door into the main room of the center, I was filled with a sense that there is more information in this small room than I could absorb in a single afternoon. Not allowing this to stop my progress, I decided to take in what I could. So, I began to read.

I read papers, pamphlets, newsletters, and news papers. I opened binders of all variety, color, size and title. I studied maps of various water sheds, forests, and mountain ranges.

While I read, I listened to people speak their opinions and viewpoints. I listened to them talk of friends, and of enemies. I heard of struggles with others, struggles with selves. I learned about my friends and about my world.

During my visit at the MEC I witnessed a sharing of talk between people that I both enjoyed, and found informative.

Sincerely: A patient ear, and a humble voice
