They have hired nationally acclaimed attorney, Stephen Volker, to lead what is bound to be a precedent setting case, one that will offer protection for rivers on the National and State levels.
Volker has tried five EPA cases before the Federal Supreme Court, four of which he won.
The group has formed a Board of Directors from Marin, Sonoma, Mendocino and Humboldt counties. They are: Frank Egger, Marin County; Dr. Martin Griffin and Pam Netzo, CPA, Sonoma County; Craig Bell and Stewart Smith, Mendocino County; and Paul Mason and Dr. Denver Nelson from Humboldt County.
The group is sponsoring an Eel River Environmental Forum, December 5, 1998 at the Matteel Community Center in Redway. The Forum will be from 12:30-5:00 pm; an art show from 5:00-6:00; a community banquet from 6:30-8:00; followed by an Eel River spawning party with entertainment from the entire watershed. Come and enjoy speakers, awards, celebration and information.
