Kids Page - Renewable energy
If you live in Northern California there is a good chance you have heard the words "renewable energy" (also known just as renewables). Renewable energy sources are those that will not run out. They are constantly renewed in the cycles of the natural world.
The renewables include energy from the sun, winds, waves, tides, rivers and plant matter. Renewable sources can and someday will provide most of our electrical energy. They cause far less damage to the environment than nuclear or fossil fuel sources. They do not produce as much waste or pollution, and help to keep our air cleaner.
In our next issue we will discuss solar energy. In the meantime be proud that you live in an area known as the Solar Capital of the world!
