Human Rights Monitoring Project

The Human Rights Monitoring Project documents police misconduct reported by people who have experienced or witnessed such conduct. HRMP also conducts trainings which include police monitoring, documenting reports and nonviolence. The group has recently joined more closely with the newly forming Mendocino Commission on Human Rights, folding their meetings into the Commission's and sharing a newsletter. While the Commission will address a broad range of human rights issues beyond that of police misconduct, HRMP will continue with that focus and will remain a separate organization.

A series of community discussion forums will be sponsored by HRMP. Sheriff Tony Craver and District Attorney Norm Vroman will attend these forums, which are currently planned for Covelo, Laytonville and Anderson Valley. Specific dates and times will be announced. Call the MEC for more information, or to place your name on the mailing list for the Commission's newsletter.
