ACTIVE-FEST SET FOR JULY

by Rafael Borras

This is an invitation for you and your group to participate in a festival of interdependence, consciousness and activism, ACTIVE-FEST. A non-commercial event which will occur during the Bastille Day weekend, July 14,15, and 16, 2000 at the Boonville Fairgrounds, which provides for camping, a commercial kitchen, sheltered and open areas, parking, a modular stage and amenities.

We invite activist groups and individuals from Mendocino, Lake, Humboldt, Sonoma and the Bay Area to share their concerns and the focus of their passion and to honor each others views and freedom of expression and to strive for the opening of minds and hearts, toward a vision of harmonious, sustainable spiritual evolution, where we exalt in the multitude of life forms and protect the mantle of the planet from further insult. Where we acknowledge the dignity of the Family of Man, honor ethnic diversity, human rights, social justice and embrace the work and wisdom of woman to supersede the patriarchal paradigm in order to insure the continuity of life. Maybe by means of stimulation of thought, through singing, dancing. poetry, theater, comedy, praying and simply opening ourselves to the pulse of the planet we can attain this higher vision.

We will gather to educate, motivate, activate, celebrate, and open the gate of a collective vision of wholesome life resonant with the well being of the Earth. We welcome those of you who work to redress social injustice and environmental degradation. And those who share in common the spirit of peace, healing, right livelihood, appropriate technology and resource sustainability to share your concerns and your ideas. We also encourage ARTISTS-POETS-MUSICIANS AND VISIONARIES to loosen the bonds of convention and alienation and inaugurate the sacred wisdom: Oneness through Diversity. Contact us now. We await your vibration and welcome your energy to organize and realize this potentially unlimited event. We welcome sponsors and donations. We have initiated a web-site www.sabernet/~rafa, where we soon hope to have linkages to those who are coordinating different facets of Active-fest. Both the Mendocino Environmental Center and the Mendocino Coast Environmental center are promoting this event. but for the moment you can connect with Rafael at e-mail: rafa@saber.net or at 707-961-6253.

We especially need those of you experienced in writing grants, soliciting sponsors, publicity, artistic coordination, volunteer coordination, care of children and outreach to activist groups. Thank-you all of contributing to the well being of our community and of the planet. - Rafael
