This specious argument is evidence that the corporate agenda has permeated the minds of many so- called 'progressives'. The corporate aim is to maximize short- term gains. Never mind the long- term effects of environmental degradation and slave labor- just keep the stock value high- just focus on next quarter earnings. So the corporations are urging voters to follow a similar course: vote for the short term 'lesser of two evils'- as long as it is either a Democrat or a Republican. They don't want voters to consider the long-term benefits of reaching outside the two paid - for parties. They don't want voters to consider that it may take more than one election to achieve real change in our national priorities.
The corporate owned government, be it Democrat or Republican, has
* bombed defenseless countries without declaration of war,
* victimized American women and children by dismantling welfare,
* handed over our sovereignty to corporations via NAFTA and GATT which cripples labor rights, and
* carried on a disastrous 'war on drugs' that accomplishes nothing except expansion of a prison system that preys on minorities.
Enough. Look past the short- term gains (if, indeed, there are any) and vote for the necessary change to restore our Democracy. Ralph Nader has worked for the American people for 40 years. He does not belong to the Corporations. He has more character and integrity than any of his opponents. Vote for the future. Vote for Ralph Nader. You'll sleep better knowing you've voted for the best candidate.
